Chicks HatchedSpring time means "baby chick time" in Amy Swihart's classroom at Madison Elementary School. After 21 days, the chicks began to hatch inside the incubator. The boys and girls learned about the life cycle of chickens, oviparous animals and embryo development, and recorded their observations as the chicks hatched. They also learned the meaning behind the saying, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch." Pictured is first-grader Xander with a chick.
