Chicken Hawks

Editor, Times-Union:
I see the chicken hawks circling again, or is it buzzards? Remember the World War I slogan used by a few people who still had their senses, “Rich man’s war – poor man’s fight”? Now it’s the corporations, banks and the military industrial complex war – poor man’s fight. Have you noticed how wars happen more and more often when in the old days at least 20 years passed before the Lemmings congregated to jump off a cliff. I hear of war prayer breakfasts where the old bearded one is ask to support the latest crusade along with parades and rallies supporting wars, oops, I mean defense.

This time it’s Iran – a country where your tax dollars helped install a dictator years ago in the form of the Shah and deposed a democratically elected leader. War criminals, of course, love a war where the psychopath leaders can kill a lot of people while remaining in safety themselves. As General Smedley Butler aptly said, “War is a racket.”

There’s a movie you can rent or download from Netflicks called “Homecoming.” This is where all the dead soldiers arise from the graves to give their opinion on the beauty of war. They even join in the political debates. Boy, that would be the day!

How about that movie about the “Red Tails” air heroes? Did you know those pilots were involved in the strafing and bombing along the coast of Italy of all those pretty little fishing villages, killing perhaps hundreds of Italian men women and children even after the Italians had surrendered. I guess they left that part out of the movie.

P.S. Why don’t all these anti-abortionists quit being late-term abortionists and save those Americans dying in the Mideast. You know the several thousand “aborted” military people between the ages of 18 and 30. They also allowed the late-term aborting of 50,000 Americans in Vietnam without a whimper. And don’t forget Korea.
