Chicago Residents Busted For Drugs On U.S. 30Three Chicago residents are facing drug charges after being stopped for speeding on U.S. 30 in Warsaw.

Gabriel Calvillo, 18; Arahzad Yasmina Robinson, 24; and Rafael Alonso Godinez, 28, were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail April 14, each charged with possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, level 6 felonies. Bond for each person was preliminary set at $5,000 surety and $250 cash. They have been released on their own recognizance with initial hearings scheduled for 8:15 a.m. May 2.

On April 13, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy Craig Summers saw an SUV exceeding the posted speed limit on U.S. 30 in the area of East Van Ness Road. He conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Godinez; front seat passenger as Robinson; and Calvillo was sitting in the back.

While Summers was issuing the speeding ticket, KCSO deputy Lou Mediano used his K-9 partner to conduct an outer-air search of the SUV and the dog made a positive alert.

Officers removed the occupants from the vehicle and searched it. Calvillo told officers there was a vape pen containing THC oil behind the driver’s seat, according to court documents filed Tuesday. Officers searched the vehicle and found alcoholic beverages, a vape pen and a folded dollar bill lying on the rear floor. Inside the dollar bill, officers found cocaine.

While officers were speaking with the subjects, Calvillo began telling Robinson and Godinez that they knew the cocaine was theirs and not his. Godinez began speaking Spanish to Calvillo. Mediano speaks Spanish and advised Godinez was telling Calvillo to keep his mouth shut.
