ELKHART - Chester William Bond, 61, of 2453 E. CR 1300N, Milford, died at 4:38 p.m. Jan. 2, 2009, in Goshen General Hospital.
He was born March 14, 1947, in Webster, Mass., to Wylie N. and Joyce Gevry Bond. On June 14, 1986, in Syracuse, he married Jacqueline S. Long Cordle, who survives.
He formerly was a truck driver and race car driver at New Paris Speedway. He was a member of American Legion, Indianapolis. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, serving in Vietnam.
Also surviving are two grandchildren; a great-grandson; his mother, Joyce Bond, Syracuse; and four sisters: Joyce (and spouse Michael) Hardy, Sidney; Sharon Ringler and Donna (and spouse Paul) Thornhill, all of Syracuse; and Luann (and spouse Steven) Wiggs, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Vineyard Community Church, Syracuse, with Pastor Kent W. Butcher officiating a prayer service. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services, who is in charge of arrangements.
