SYRACUSE- Chester R. Harris, 76, Syracuse, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born June 11, 1938, in Denver, Colo., to Clarence R. and Clara M. Ritter Harris. On Dec. 15, 1956, in Syracuse, he married Lavera J. Weaver, who survives. Chester retired in 2000 from Fairmount Homes where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Also surviving are three children: Rick (and spouse Angie) Harris, Rochester; Robin Harris, Warsaw; and Ron Harris, Elkhart; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (and spouse Pat) Hashberger, Elkhart; three sisters: Bernice (and spouse Jack) Drake, Indianapolis; Donna Goorhouse, Elkhart; and Kathy (and spouse Ron) Nelson, Bristol; and a sister-in-law, Nora Harris, Bitely, Mich. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Harris. A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Millersburg Church of Christ, 11851 CR 44, Millersburg, with Pastor David Main officiating. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
