Chester L. “Chet” Clampitt Jr., 76, died at 8:50 a.m. Feb. 14, 2016, in his Warsaw home. He was born Oct. 24, 1939, in Frankfort, to Chester L. Sr. and Esther L. Wills Clampitt. On Dec. 31, 1990, in Warsaw, he married Judy Shireman, who survives in Warsaw. He is a 1957 Mentone High School graduate. He is a longtime Kosciusko County resident. He worked at RR Donnelley and Son for 45 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2003. He was a member of Warsaw Masonic Lodge No. 73 F.&A.M.; Fort Wayne Mizpah Shrine, past president; Fort Wayne Scottish Rite; Atwood Lions Club; and Warsaw Kiwanis Club, past president. In his younger years, he was a volunteer firefighter with the Atwood Fire Department; member of the Kosciusko Community Hospital board of directors; former Harrison Township trustee; and former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. He always had a positive outlook on life; enjoyed working in the yard; was a fan of NASCAR and especially of Jeff Gordon’s #24; was a Green Bay Packers and Duke basketball fan; enjoyed all water sports; snowmobiling and plowing snow; had a passion for Jeeps and owned several of them over the years. He was an animal lover especially of his three dogs: Sweetie, Ellie Mae and Maddie. He was a wonderful and loving husband and he was a loving dad who turned all experiences into a fun time. Also surviving are three daughters: Terri (and spouse Kevin) Eaton, Claypool, Carleen (and spouse Mark) Quinlan, Granger; Allyson (and spouse Tony) Fox, Bloomington; two sons, Doug (and spouse Virginia) Clampitt, Atwood, and Steve (and spouse Terri) Clampitt, Warsaw; three stepchildren: Douglas (and spouse April) Metzger, and Mindy (and spouse J.C.) Stookey, all of Warsaw; and Renee (and spouse Bryan) Martin, Palm Harbor, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marcia (and spouse Thomas) VanKirk, Frostproof, Fla., and Cheryl Couture, Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester L. Clampitt Sr., who died Feb. 4, 1993; his mother, Esther L. Clampitt, who died Dec. 30, 1976; and a great-grandson, Isaac Eaton, who died in 2015. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer, Warsaw Community Church, officiating. Burial wil be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.
