Chester F. Mast

NAPPANEE – Chester F. Mast, 81, of Nappanee, died  at 12:05 a.m. July 3, 2012, in his residence, from a long illness.

He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Stony Point, Kosciusko County, to Jonathon and Lucy Kauffman Mast. In 1954, in Goshen, he married Betty Swoverland, who preceded him in death.

A lifetime area resident, he worked at Mutschler Brothers, Nappanee, for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of  Nappanee American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Nappanee Church of the Brethren and Whiskerville Truckers.

Surviving are a daughter, Patty Britt, Nappanee; a son, Chester Allen (and spouse Ginger) Mast, Bremen; special friend Judy Roberson, Nappanee; six grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Mast, Mishawaka, and Ervin (and spouse Lois) Mast, Berne; and two sisters, Laura Lawson,   Niles, Mich., and Verna Newton, Elkhart. He was preceded in death by 15 siblings.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery with military graveside services.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
