Chely Lee Reyes, 22, of Monticello, and formerly of Mentone, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 22, 2013, in IU White Memorial Hospital, Monticello. He was born May 23, 1991, in Warsaw, to Jose L. and Leslie A. Stephens Reyes. He graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School in 2010 and then attended Vincennes University. He was employed as an electrician for Girtz Industries, Monticello. He attended Safe Covenant Fellowship, Monticello, and was a member of Future Farmers of America at Tippecanoe Valley High School. He loved to work on his 1978 Ford pickup. He was a caring and loving son, brother and friend who would give anybody the shirt off his back. He was a free spirit and considered himself to be a cowboy who was born in the wrong century. Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Miriah L. (and spouse Zachary) Reyes-Davis, Mentone, and Chayla Reyes, Warsaw; two nieces, Kacie and Kyndall Davis, Mentone; a nephew on the way; and his maternal grandmother, Beth Stephens, Mentone; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Talmadge Stephens, and Jose and Ana Reyes Dueño; a great-grandmother, Susanna Combs; and an aunt, Luz Nereida Melendez. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Rev. Douglas Ohime and the Rev. Leslie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.
