As a former Warsaw Community High School cheerleader, I want to say that it takes hard work, teamwork, and the ability to have fun to get the crowd excited like our Warsaw cheerleaders do.
Cheerleaders practice long hours throughout the week working on new cheers, different dances and difficult stunts to fill the crowd with Tiger spirit! Not only do they cheer the team on from the sidelines while the game is in progress, they also get out on the court during time-outs to keep the crowd excited. Some girls will perform stunts while others do multiple tumbling sequences across the floor, all while still yelling out the familiar "Go! Tigers, Go!"
Teamwork is a big part of the Warsaw cheerleading program. If one girl isn't performing her best, the whole routine will be off. Cheerleading is all about working together, especially when tossing a girl up in the air during a stunt. Every single girl has to be focused and do their part in order for their fellow cheerleader to go up and come down safely.
Cheerleading is mainly about having fun! If the cheerleaders aren't having fun, you can bet the crowd will be just the same. I don't know how many times I have looked over at the opposing team's cheerleaders and seen them all looking like they would love to be anywhere else but this gym. Our cheerleaders, however, always wear smiles on their faces and have a good time cheering on the Warsaw Tigers!
I want to end by saying that every single girl on the Warsaw cheerleading squad is beautiful, talented and an excellent cheerleader! I attended the Warsaw game on Saturday and watched them get the crowd excited! Ladies, stay positive and don't let harsh criticism bring you down. When you get out on the floor next Thursday night, show the crowd just how awesome Warsaw cheerleaders are and put a big smile on your face!
