Chautauqua-Wawasee Announces Programming For Inaugural Season

Posted
SYRACUSE – In announcing the programming for its 2011 inaugural season, Chautauqua-Wawasee officially became the 21st member of the nationwide Chautauqua Institution Network.
Since its founding more than a century ago, the Chautauqua Institution is dedicated to the exploration of the best in human values and the enrichment of life. This is accomplished by creating an experience for the public through a host of programs and events throughout the summer months. The content of those programs and events are based on one or more of Chautauqua’s four pillars – the arts, education, religion and recreation.
Hosted at the historic Oakwood Inn and Conference Center on the shores of Lake Wawasee, the inaugural season of Chautauqua-Wawasee, as it is officially known, will offer programming over the first two weekends in July to each of the pillars, with more programming already in the works for the 2012 season.
“We see the introduction of Chautauqua-Wawasee as a very exciting thing, one we hope resonates with this area’s residents,” Ann Strong, organizer of Chautauqua-Wawasee, said. “Our hope and our goal is for Chautauqua-Wawasee to be a source of connection, renewal, discovery and celebration for everyone – beginning this year and then well into the future.”
The full event schedule for 2011 Chautauqua-Wawasee is:
– Wawasee Flotilla Road Race, July 2, 8 a.m. Walk/run race offering two distances - 3.3 and 8 miles - winding through the Oakwood grounds.
