Chase Leads To 2 Arrests

One man was arrested after police chased two speeding vehicles through Warsaw Saturday night.

Warsaw Police Department Ptl. Gregory Oberlin attempted to stop the two vehicles after witnessing them traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Harrison and Fort Wayne streets.

Oberlin followed the vehicles with lights and siren operating, but both drivers allegedly failed to stop, disregarding stop signs at several intersections and "bouncing wildly" through the intersection of Cook and Sheridan streets without braking.

When the vehicles turned north onto Cook Street, the car continued northbound while the pickup turned east into the first alley. Oberlin followed the pickup, which reportedly continued to flee before the driver pulled into the driveway of a residence in the 500 block of Lyon Street. The driver then reportedly fled on foot and Oberlin waited for backup before approaching the passenger, who remained in the vehicle.

Once another officer arrived, Jesus Rodriguez Malagon was physically removed from the vehicle. He reportedly failed to cooperate with officers' attempts to take him into custody and was finally pushed to the ground and handcuffed.

Malagon, 24, of 525 Lyon St., Warsaw, was charged with public intoxication and resisting law enforcement. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

The driver of the vehicle was not located and the pickup was impounded. The car involved in the incident was not located either.
