The headlines read, “Charlie Kirk is Dead.” I heard myself cry out, “No,” with a sob in my throat. I felt broken for humanity, the evil that is in the world frightens me so. And yet it has been here since the beginning of time. When Eve was seduced in the garden by the serpent and made her own choice to eat of the apple. This was the beginning of man telling God, “I don’t need you, I can choose my own path.”
When a man can see such a horrible act of violence and evil, and call evil good, and good evil, we definitely need a heart check. The evil one, Satan, and his influences are all around us. His whole mission is to kill, steal and destroy, each of us, our children, our neighbors, our friends. If we don’t run from him and to God, he will certainly steal more of our soul. Judas Iscariot went from being a friend to a betrayer.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness.” - Ephesians 6:12.
May each of us pray for our broken world and love each other with the example Christ gave us. I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t agree with all of the politics of his day, but he kept his focus on eternity.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” - Romans 12:21.
