WARSAW – Charles R. Rutledge, 98, formerly of Henry and Delaware counties, died Sept. 12, 2016, at his residence. He was born March 30, 1918, in Henry County, the son of Harry and Ethel Harvey Rutledge, and graduated from Mt. Summit High School. On Aug. 26, 1937, in Henry County, he married Madonna R. Harris, who preceded him in death Sept. 3, 2002. They were married 65 years. He worked as an electrician for many years, including on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska, in the 1960s. He was a member of the IBEW and former member of the Springport Christian Church. He enjoyed flying his airplane and was a loving father with a deep faith. He was a loving, generous and understanding man. Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Garner (and husband Bill), Warsaw; a son-in-law, Jack Norris, North Webster; four grandchildren: Mark Garner, Andrea Gunter (and husband Marcus) and Jennifer Rassi, all of Warsaw, and Troy Bradshaw, Indianapolis; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Batchfield, New Castle; Joann Ewing, Kokomo; Norma Mohn, Calabash, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He also was preceded by his parents; a daughter, Lana Norris, in June 2011; a grandson, Dale Bradshaw; a brother, Myron Rutledge; and two sisters, Sarah Groves and Mary Ray. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, 415 E. Washington St., Muncie, with Pastor Larry Delaney officiating. Burial will follow at Springport Cemetery.
