SYRACUSE – Charles F. “Charlie” Taylor, 86, Goshen, passed away at 2:20 p.m. April 26, 2014, at I.U. Goshen Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Virgil J. and Florence A. Burlingame Taylor. On June 4, 1955, in Cleveland he married Marilyn A. Windle, who survives. He graduated in 1946 from Charles F. Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio, and in 1951 from Kent State in Kent, Ohio. He lived in the Cleveland area until 1968 when he moved to Syracuse and then moved to Goshen in 2005. He was employed at Walmart in Goshen as a greeter since 2002, was formerly employed as a Dale Carnegie Instructor, taught drivers education in Cleveland and sold insurance. He was a member of the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse where he played the organ since 1968. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Also surviving are a daughter, Nancy (and spouse Rodney) Bell, Syracuse; two sons, David C. Taylor, South Bend and Paul A. (and Lisa Smith) Taylor, Davenport, Fla.; two grandchildren, Carrie and Kevin Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Estelle Young; and a brother, Virgil P. Taylor. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 6943 E. Waco Drive, Syracuse, with Fr. Richard Hire of the church and Fr. Robert Lengerich of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Bremen, officiating. Graveside services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Syracuse Cemetery. Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S.
