Charles E. Rhodes, 90, died April 21, 2009, in Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, Fla., after a brief illness.
He was born May 26, 1918, in Kosciusko County, to William C. and Ina White Rhodes. His wife, Faye, preceded him in death.
He served overseas during World War II as a bombardier/navigator and earned a Purple Heart for his service. He was co-founder of the Park 'N Shop Supermarkets in Indiana and spent summers in Mikana, Wis., and on their farm near Washington, Ga. He was a member of the Stuart Sailfish Club.
Surviving are three sons, Michael (and spouse Margaret), William (and spouse Cheryl) and Dennis (and spouse Virginia); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
A private memorial service will be held. There was cremation.
