DUNDEE, Mich. – Charles “Chas” Collins, 65, passed away Feb. 14, 2014, at his residence after battling a long illness of lung cancer. He was born Jan. 1, 1949, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Glover and Cardella Jarrell Collins. On July 23, 1988, he married Terry at their home in Milan, Mich. He moved to the Ypsilanti, Mich., area around 1957. He was employed by General Motors for more than 30 years. He was a member of Belleville Free Will Baptist Church and Dundee Sportsman Club. Charlie enjoyed his cabin up north, playing cards, horseshoes, riding his Harley, hunting and family time. He is survived by his wife, Terry, of 25 years; six children: Barbara (and spouse Silas) Meadows, William Collins, Debbie Collins, Christopher (and spouse Rachel) England, Jonathon (and spouse Emily) England and Rashell Crawford; 10 grandchildren: Brandon, Silas “Buck”, Trenton, Justin, T.J., Abbigail, Riley, Zachary, Isabella, Alexandra; two sisters: Sylvia Daugherty, Claypool; and Geraldine Mangun, Mentone; and three half sisters, JoMae, Maxie and Opal. He was preceded in death by two brothers, O.C. “Boots” and Connie “Shorty,” and one sister, Toby. Services will be at noon Wednesday at Belleville Free Will Baptist Church, 750 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville, Mich., with the Rev. Walker Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Union-Udell Cemetery, Ypsilanti, returning to Belleville Free Will Baptist Church for refreshments.
