Charges Filed In Shooting IncidentAfter shooting another man’s vehicle with a handgun and then running into the man’s vehicle with his, a Mentone man was arrested earlier this month.
Kevin Franklin Good, 21, of 5915 W. Martin Drive, Mentone, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:11 a.m. Oct. 5 for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and failure to stop after an accident. His preliminary bond was set at $5,250.
Court documents filed Monday list the charges against him as criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony; criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor; and failure to stop after an accident, a Class B misdemeanor.
On Oct. 5, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy Kyle Denton was dispatched to a report of shots fired. Denton spoke with a woman and a man. The woman said her ex-boyfriend, Good, had been trying to contact her through phone calls and text messages but she did not answer them.
That morning Good arrived at her residence, she said. She said she told Good to leave and she went back into her residence. While she was in her home, she heard multiple gunshots fired by Good into a vehicle belonging to the other man, according to court documents. She again told Good to leave, and while he was leaving he ran his vehicle into the other man’s vehicle and did not stop.
Denton saw two bullet holes in the vehicle belonging to the man as well as a broken rear window and a damaged bumper.
While Denton was speaking to the man and woman, KCSD deputy James Smith went to Good’s Mentone address. Good was arrested and admitted that he fired multiple rounds into the vehicle and hit it with his own vehicle, according to court documents.
The gun was retrieved by police from Good’s mother.
Good has an initial hearing scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Thursday in Kosciusko County Superior Court III.
