An Etna Green man is facing two felonies and a misdemeanor after a shooting last Saturday.
Shawn Douglas McCrum, 53, is charged with aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony; carrying a handgun without a license, a class A misdemeanor; and carrying a handgun as a felon, a level 5 felony.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Kosciusko County officers responded to a call in regards to a shooting in Milford. The victim had a gunshot wound to the stomach and was transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital.
Det. Joshua Spangle of KCSO spoke to the victim who said McCrum and his ex-wife, Stephanie McCrum, invited the victim over to his residence at 228 E. State St., Etna Green. While at an outbuilding adjacent to McCrum’s residence, the victim said he was drinking and hanging out with McCrum, McCrum’s ex-wife and McCrum’s cousin.
During that time, an argument erupted between the victim and McCrum, which settled down and McCrum went into the residence. The victim said, according to court documents, McCrum returned to the outbuilding and started “running his mouth.” The victim said he then heard a bang and fell to the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to his stomach from a gun the victim described as a black, possibly .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun. The victim said he crawled to his car and drove away.
Spangle said he observed scratches and injuries to the victim’s knees and legs. According to court documents, the victim suffered a shattered femur due to the gunshot wound.
