Three people face charges after an alleged incident of road rage Friday night in Warsaw.
Benjamin Stewart, 26, and Stacey Stevens, 28, both of Warsaw, are each charged with disorderly conduct and battery. Joel Albertson, whose age and address were not available, is charged with criminal mischief and criminal recklessness.
According to a Warsaw Police Department report, Stewart was driving on Market Street about 10:31 p.m. Friday when Stevens allegedly pulled out in front of him and stopped. Stewart told police that he made an obscene gesture to Stevens as he went around her vehicle and continued eastbound on Market Street.
Stevens then allegedly began to tailgate Stewart and flip the bright lights of her vehicle on and off as she traveled behind him. When the two vehicles were stopped by a light at the intersection of Center Street and Eastlake Drive, Stevens reportedly yelled at Stewart that where she comes from people get shot for acting like that. The two then reportedly exited their vehicles and got into a physical confrontation, with Stewart shoving Stevens and Stevens punching Stewart in the face, before they got into their vehicles and left.
Albertson reportedly witnessed part of the confrontation and recognized Stevens as his boss. When Stewart stopped for a red light at U.S. 30 and Commerce Drive, Albertson reportedly blocked Stewart's vehicle from the front, another vehicle pulled up behind him and Stevens stopped alongside his car.
In an attempt to leave, Stewart struck Albertson's vehicle and Albertson then allegedly used a metal bar to break a window on Stewart's car.
The vehicle behind Stewart at U.S. 30 and Commerce Drive was not involved in the incident, but saw what was going on and the driver used his cellular phone to report it to police.
