Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins swore in Warsaw Police Department Patrol Officer Ryan Petty during Friday's Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Petty began service with WPD in 2008 and has served as a probationary patrolman. Petty replaces Brian Roberts, who moved to southern Illinois with his family May 29, 2008, according to Warsaw Human Resources Director Jennifer Whitaker.
The board also approved Steven Rockey being promoted from the sergeant rank to lieutenant. Rockey's salary will be increased to $2,111.56 bi-weekly. Rockey replaces former Lt. Joe Stanley, who resigned Sept. 1.
Also during the meeting, several WPD officer probationary status changes were approved.
During the board's March 21 meeting, the board previously approved hiring patrol officers Jonathan Rice, Joseph Klaehn and Phillip Reed.
During Friday's meeting, Rice was promoted from probationary patrol officer to the second stage of his probationary status. Rice's salary will be increased to $1,504.35 bi-weekly effective Nov. 6. Rice replaces former WPD Sgt. Terry Polston, who died in December.

Reed's salary will be increased to $1,504.35 bi-weekly effective Nov. 6.
