Life is so different today than 50 years ago.

Years ago, one could carry money for a county in a white envelope, walking day after day, the same time and route, no problems.

I, coming from up north to Detroit, Mich., picked up a young man that needed a ride. I let him drive my car for a while. I took a nap and then I drove again. Today, if someone is broke down and walking, odds are we would pass him by, afraid to give him a ride not knowing who the fellow might be.

Public schools were more safe 50 years ago. Today we hear awful things happening at school.

I have heard or read something like, "At the present speed, people going to prison, in a few years there will be more in prison than outside of prison."

Why is life getting worse than better? Why a change in the wrong direction? Well, let's forget the past and aim for better days ahead. "All things are possible with our God." "For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness." 1 Thes. 4:7. "Let's press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:14.

I am sure you know if you plant potatoes you always get potatoes. If you plant corn, you get corn. We send our children to school to get education. Whatever is being put in their minds (planted) at home or at school determines what the children will be like.

Someone said, "Pray that your mind and soul be filled with God's Holy Spirit, so full, that there will not be room for any bad to enter." Christ is the solution.

I at one time lived and worked on a farm. If we did not hoe the strawberries, weeds would take over. Has weeds taken over our children? What is planted in their minds will determine our future. Without discipline children go wild, so to speak. When children trouble, it means parents have not done their duty. When we have a new car, we are concerned that it gets good care and we give it much attention. Children are the most valuable asset parents have by far. They deserve our best also.

John Adams, second president of the United States, said something like, "If everyone in a certain region would obey the Bible, what a paradise that region would be."

"You lust and do not have. You murder and covet, and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet, you do not have because you do not ask." James 4:2.
