There is no greater passive sport than watching politicians try to reinvent themselves in time for election day. Try to imagine those ill-tempered, podium-pounding, name-calling wheeler dealers morphing themselves into normal human beings. Those generic humans are the same people who stripped us of our health care and forced upon us a system that is an absolute recipe for disaster. They stood and lied about the cost, the lousy substandard care, and the undeniable rationing. Of course, they didn't tell us that they would continue to enjoy their premier care as they had exempted themselves from Obamacare.

While ruining our health care, they ignored their constituents, failed to answer their office phones, and hid under their desks, afraid to answer questions from those who had hired them.

They became poster children for exactly the kind of person you would never want as your public servant in Washington. But, now with elections looming in the future, they begin their metamorphosis.

All their constituents see now are smiling faces, laughter, winks and an overwhelming attention to the fact that we do exist. They make the rounds of small restaurants and diners that, normally, they would never frequent. They smile and choke down food they would consider fodder for only red necks. And they shake thousands of hands as if they were priming a pump; a pump from, which to them, their re-election votes will flow.

They will make endless speeches, trying to defend their votes for bigger government, more intrusive legislation, and spending more money because it's in America's best interests. But they will side step a $13 trillion deficit, staggering unemployment, higher taxes, a stifling of productivity, an erosion of businesses large and small, and failed expensive legislation. They will talk of character, principle and conscience, but their prior actions will have preceded them.

But all they really need is for you to believe that, when re-elected. They will now always listen to you, their door will always be open, fiscal responsibility is their main focus, and they have been reborn.

After the votes have been counted and their victory assured, they board their Gulf Stream back to Washington. They quietly recall all the promises they made once again to the people. And one small word creeps into their silent thoughts; a word they would never utter out loud in the light of day - suckers!
