The Dimensions of Excellence in Business Award was split into two presentations, with a service award given for the first time to the Lake City Animal Clinic, Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Veterinarian Pamela Brickley-Hann accepted the award given by Doug Hanes.
Monteith Tire was named as the business of the year, with Ray Monteith's son, Scott, accepting the award. Ray Monteith was the 1972 Man of the Year. The Dimensions of Excellence Business Award was presented by Mike Kubacki.
Jan and Scott Campbell of Stephan Enterprises in Pierceton received the Entrepreneur Award. The Campbells make and market the "Boo-Bunny" and currently offer a 30-page catalog of products. The award was presented by Roger Moynahan.
Andy Lewis named Par-Kan, in Silver Lake, as the Industry Award winner. Par-Kan president Dave Caldwell accepted the award for the company.
Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins was given the Government Excellence Award, presented by Jean Northenor. Wiggins, a partner with Ramsey, Wilson and Wiggins, CPAs, was elected to the city council in 1984 and has been mayor since 1997. He and his wife, Deb, accepted the award.
The Athena Award was given to Ivy Tech State College Dean of Students Joann Walgamuth by Barbara Dombkowski.
The Chamber honored its own, Tracy Benzinger of Time Services, as the Chamber Ambassador of the Year. Susan Derr presented the honor.
Outgoing chamber chairman Jack Birch introduced incoming chairman Larry Easterday and recognized outgoing board of director officers John Boal, John Ganyard, Mary Gerard and Bob Sanders.
