Certified Lead Renovator Refresher Training Offered Through BAKFC
Posted
Staff Report-
In April 2010, the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule came into effect. This lead-based paint regulation required the initial training of contractors who disturbed painted or coated surfaces in residences and/or child-occupied facilities built prior to 1978. The RRP Rule requires refresher training for Certified Lead Renovators every five years. Without this recertification training and certification, the EPA can issue fines in the tens of thousands of dollars to anyone disturbing surfaces with lead paint without the proper training and certification. Visit EPA.gov for more information. Builders Association Kosciusko Fulton Counties has contracted with Nova Environmental Inc. to provide the Certified Lead Renovator Refresher Training Program for members who took the initial training in 2009 and 2010. The training program will be offered at the BAKFC Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost for the training is $175 for BAKFC members and $275 for non-members. Participants who successfully complete the four hour course shall be provided Lead Renovator certification for a period of five years. The trainer is required to keep a copy of the initial certificate of the participant in order to issue the refresher certificate, so anyone who took the original class from an organization other than BAKFC will need to bring a copy of the initial certificate to the refresher training. For information about registering for this training program, contact BAKFC exective officer Joni Truex at 574-267-6125 or email jtruex@bakfc.com
