Central Park Tree Planting

Posted

Pictured (L to R) during a tree planting ceremony this morning in Central Park to celebrate Earth Day and honor veterans in the community are Connie Schlag, auxiliary president; Ray Bledsoe, American Legion Post 49 commander; Ken Wilson, second district commander; Joe Thallemer, Warsaw mayor; Larry Plummer, parks superintendent and Shaun Gardner, parks maintenance director. American Legion Post 49 purchased the Crimson Maple tree from Hoosier Home & Garden, Indianapolis, with a donation from the family of recently deceased Post 49 member Donald Quine. Thallemer provided comments and said the tree will be a wonderful addition to the park and remind the community of its dedication to its veterans. Wilson said the legion is committed to the men and women who serve the country and said he is very impressed with how things are taken care of in Warsaw. Bledsoe said on Earth Day the community is reminded of the veterans who fought to protect our land and ensure an environment that will continue to sustain many generations to come. The tree planting ceremony was a reminder of the sacrifices men and women in uniform have endured and the tree was dedicated to local veterans.
