Warsaw will repave Center Street from Hickory Street near the railroad at the center of town to U.S. 30 and East Lake Street beginning Thursday. Warsaw City Council, at Monday night’s meeting, approved a $200,000 appropriation in the city’s cumulative capital development fund to resurface East Center Street from Hickory Street to East Lake Street. On Wednesday, construction signs and barricades will be placed along Center Street and streets intersecting Center Street. On Thursday and Friday, the street approaches to Center Street will be milled. This will cause short-term closures to the streets being milled and short-term traffic delays on Center Street as the milling machine and cleanup crews work near the Center Street travel lanes. Drivers are advised to be prepared to stop. On Friday there will be asphalt patching between Argonne Road and U.S. 30 on Center Street. The work will require the lane next to the curb to be closed while asphalt is removed and replaced. At the end of the day all lanes will be open. On June 13 and 14, Center Street’s eastbound travel lane will be removed and replaced with new asphalt. Traffic from the travel lane will be shifted to the Center turn lane. During this phase the westbound traffic (traffic driving toward downtown) will not be allowed to make left turns except at streets with signal lights and at Parker Street and Roosevelt Street. Eastbound traffic (traffic driving toward U.S. 30) will not be allowed to turn right except at streets with signal lights and at Parker Street and Roosevelt Street. Streets with signal lights are Scott, Bronson, Lincoln, Harrison and Cleveland streets. June 17, the middle lane of Center Street will be milled. Traffic may cross the milled area once the construction crews are clear of the immediate area. June 20-24, the asphalt surface will be finished on Center Street and the street approaches to Center Street. During this phase, traffic should be prepared for short-term pauses and lane shifts. Lane striping will be performed as soon as paving is completed the week of June 27.
