Center Lake beach will be closed this weekend to swimmers and boaters.
High E. coli levels were found at the beach after testing was conducted, according to Kosciusko County Health Department Administrator Bob Weaver.
Testing will be conducted again Monday and results are expected Tuesday morning, Weaver said.
There are 235 colonies of E.coli per 100 milliliters of water. Health department staff members take two water samples from a site each Monday.
If the site tests over 235, then it is temporarily closed and the site is tested every day until it measures less than 235.
Two samples taken the same day with E. coli counts less than 235 per 100 ml. of water will be required for reopening the beach to the public.
The health department conducts the testing at a facility that takes 24 hours to complete.
Pike Lake beach was closed last month after high E. Coli levels were found in the water. Pike Lake beach is now open.
