COLUMBIA CITY – Cecil Dean Jenkins, 89, rural North Manchester, died at 2 a.m. Dec. 4, 2015, at Millers at Oak Pointe, where he had resided since January 2013. He was born Feb. 3, 1926 in Whitley County, a son of Harry F. and Jessie Stoner Jenkins. On March 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to Edith L. Hippensteel, who survives. They have always made their home in southern Kosciusko County, moving to their present home in 1962. His formative years were spent in the rural South Whitley and Sidney area. He completed his education at Sidney High School. He was employed at Farm Equipment, North Manchester, for 12 years; Schrader’s Automotive, Warsaw, for 18 years; and Whitley Mobile Home for 15 years. Survivors include three children: Joe Lynn (and spouse Joetta) and James S. (and spouse Lori) Jenkins, all of South Whitley; Susan Jan (and spouse Daniel) Weicht, North Webster; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Rhoades, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Merritt, and a sister, Icel Knight. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
