CCS Adopt-A-Family Program Sign-Up Begins MondayKosciusko County will have a higher-than-normal need for a little extra help this Christmas.

Combined Community Services' Adopt-A-Family program begins Monday. Sign-up for new families only interested in applying for the program begins Monday.

Sign-up for families who have not been on the program more than two times previously, and do not receive assistance from any other Christmas program, begins Tuesday.CCS exchanges information with other county agencies, churches and schools to avoid duplication, and provides each child with gifts for Christmas and a holiday meal for the families, according to Peggi Lisenbee-Wright, CCS director of client services.

Adopt-A-Family is open to Kosciusko County residents with children infants through eighth grade unless there is a child in high school who also has younger siblings in the home.

To adopt a family, people can stop by CCS, 110 E. Prairie St., Warsaw, and choose from the applications, beginning Nov. 5.

Last year, more than 1,500 children were served by Adopt-A-Family, according to Lisenbee-Wright.

"With the economy still in crisis, we expect the need to be even greater this year," Lisenbee-Wright said.

She said there also is a need for people to adopt teenagers as part of the program.

People interested in adopting a family for the program can call Lisenbee-Wright at 574-269-6019, Ext. 22.
