CCAC Hosting Softball World Series

The Kosciusko County Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to welcome the 2013 National Softball Association’s (NSA) Men’s Class “Silver” Super World Series to the City County Athletic Complex (CCAC).
The event will begin Friday and conclude Sunday, as total of 54 teams representing Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Maryland, and Massachusetts will be participating in the “Chase for the Rings”.
The NSA is the only softball association that awards the winning team members rings that declare them NSA Super World champions.
With 54 teams participating in the double-elimination tournament, the NSA staff will also be using the complex in Nappanee for games Friday evening and Saturday until 2 p.m.
Action will begin Friday at 6 p.m. with three time slots. On Saturday, play will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 9 p.m.
A Home Run Derby for the participants will take place at the CCAC from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, play will continue at 8 a.m. with the championship game beginning at approximately 1 p.m.
This is the first time the CCAC has been selected to host a Super World, and the NSA is very excited to bring this prestigious tourney to the CCAC.
Past Super Worlds have been played in Las Vegas, Charlotte, NC; Indianapolis, Nashville, Owensville, KY; and Knoxville, TN.
“This will be the first time that the NSA has awarded a Super World Series to a community the size of Warsaw,” said NSA Indiana State Director Jim Kimmel. “We believe that a smaller community like Warsaw will prove to provide the players with a ‘welcome’ unlike any the larger communities can show. The staffs at the CCAC, Kosciusko County CVB, and Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber have been outstanding in providing an open door approach to the players and fans. We hope this weekend will be the first of many more Super Worlds hosted by the CCAC and the Kosciusko County community.”
