NORTH MANCHESTER – Whitko High School’s varsity baseball team extended its win streak to six games Wednesday, and did so in dominating fashion. Playing at Three Rivers Conference rival Manchester, the Wildcats pounded out 14 hits while pitcher Drew Bradford gave up just one hit in a six-inning, 12-2 win over the Squires. Bradford pitched all six innings, striking out four and walking none, while the only hit he gave up was a double to David McAtee. Garrett Smiley and Alex Bechtold were each 3 for 4 at the plate for Whitko, while Hunter Sroufe was 2 for 3, and Riley Anderson and Drew Bradford were both 2 for 4. Smiley hit two doubles in the win, while Sroufe and Anderson had one each. The Wildcats led 4-2 after three innings of play, and then added three runs in the fourth and five more in the sixth. The Squires, who were hampered by four errors, scored their two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Zach Hill was charged with the loss on the mound for Manchester. The Wildcats, now 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the TRC, host Bellmont on Friday. Manchester, which fell to 3-9 and 2-3, will host DeKalb in a doubleheader Saturday.
