Catherine N. Spangle, 90, Huntington, and formerly of Laketon, died at 2:30 a.m. July 12, 2009, in her granddaughter's residence in Huntington.
She was born May 26, 1919, in Athens, to Lewis and Myrl Lambert Shafer. On Nov. 16, 1937, she married Royal L. Spangle, who died July 15, 1997.
She had worked at the former Huskie-Harlan Co. and at the former G.C. Murphy Store, both in North Manchester. She co-owned and operated Spangle Wrecking Service for several years. She was a member of Laketon Wesleyan Church. She was a 1937 Burket High School graduate.
Surviving are a son, Lester (and spouse Charlotte Sue) Spangle, Silver Lake; a brother, Glen (and spouse Veda) Shafer, Elkhart; a sister, Martha Hopkins, Buchanan, Mich.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with the Rev. R. Duane Cragun officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Calling is from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
