Carter L. Quance, 61, passed on to Heaven at 6:58 a.m. Dec. 17, 2012, in Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.  Now “the Lord holds him in His hands.” Psalm 139:10
He was born Oct. 1, 1951, in Garrett, to Robert and Beverly Bolley Quance. On Sept. 30, 1989, in South Bend, he married Marty J. Hammonds Hoffman, who survives.
He was a 1970 graduate of Carroll High School, Fort Wayne, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Manchester College in 1976 in choral music and a minor in math. He moved to Warsaw from Fort Wayne  more than 30 years ago. He was a supervisor at Lippert Components Inc., Goshen, for the past two years. “He believed God’s word is the basis of all truth. He taught and brought understanding to it.” He attended and ministered as a co-captain on the ushering staff at Christian Center, South Bend, for 22 years. He presently ministered as an elder in the Word at One Tree Crossing, Perrysburg. He loved God’s word, music and his boxer, Brindy. He would say, “There are dogs; then there are boxers.” He enjoyed playing his guitar and trumpet, water skiing, ping pong and softball. He was witty and well liked. He was a loving husband and father, and an awesome grandpa
Also surviving are two sons, Aaron Quance and Corban (and spouse Caitlin) Quance, all of Warsaw; a daughter, Melita Quance Schwartz, Prescott, Ariz.; four stepdaughters:  Dawn (and spouse Chris) Patrick, North Manchester; Leann Laughlin, Etna Green, Tonya (and spouse Brian) Richie, Denver, Ind., and Hope Nutting, South Bend; a stepson, Preston (and spouse Anne) Hoffman, Columbia City; 19 grandchildren: Beck Quance Beers; Rowland Quance Schwartz; Noah Quance; Trinity Smith; Erica and Travis Lightle; Heather Knowles; Devin Delong; Noelle Patrick; Rachel and Taylor Laughlin; Chad, Craig and Coty Hoffman; Allyssa, Cameron and Adrianna Richie; and Braidon and Alexis Nutting; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cheryl (and spouse Garth) Coons, Wawaka. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Brian Richie of One Tree Crossing Church, Perrysburg. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
