There was no storybook ending to the Warsaw girls basketball team’s Senior Night, as the Lady Tigers lost 53-39 to Carroll Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers struggled with the visiting Chargers’ length and pressure defense, turning the ball over 21 times. Warsaw shot just over 36 percent from the field and made only one three-pointer. The home team was outscored by 14 points in the middle quarters. Head coach Michelle Harter, however, said the news wasn’t all bad. Warsaw did force Carroll into 16 turnovers, matched the Chargers’ 25 rebounds, and held them to only two treys on the night. The teams tied in the first and last quarter. “We all know that, offensively, when things aren’t going well for you, people think you’re playing poorly.” Harter said. “I thought we did some really nice things, both offensively and defensively, and I think there’s definitely some things that happened positively we can look at going into the sectional. “They came out trapping; they were putting pressure, and yeah, we had some turnovers; some of those types of things are going to happen. But for the most part I thought we did a fairly decent job of coming out and getting some decent looks. Our shots just didn’t fall. “If some of those shots fall early on, it’s a completely different ballgame. Same thing in the third quarter, if some of those shots had fallen early on, it’s a different game.” Harter said her team, which finished the regular season with a 12-10 record, can learn a lot from Tuesday night in preparation for Tuesday’s Goshen Sectional opener against Northridge. “I think this will be a good game film that we can watch and look at and talk about some of the passes and how they got their hands on them,” she said. “There are some things we can do to make sure our passes get there a little bit quicker. There were times our passes were a little slow because we were looking inside just a tad bit too long. “Northridge is not quite as long and athletic as Carroll was. So there’s some things we can take away from this so we can get our passes around a little bit quicker.” Carroll’s Kierstin Murphy led all scorers with 24 points. Vicki Harris led the Lady Tigers with 11 points, with Madi Graham scoring 10 and Jodie Carlson adding eight points.
