HUNTINGTON - Carrie Phyllis "Granny" Stevens, 80, of Huntington, died July 29, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, Huntington.

She was born July 15, 1928, in Huntington, to George W. and Mary Bessie Van Meter Hill. On Jan. 12, 1947, in Huntington, she married Robert A. Stevens, who died May 3, 1987.

She was a 1946 Markle High School graduate and a homemaker.

Surviving are seven sons: John (and spouse April) Stevens and Bob (and spouse Judy) Stevens, all of Warsaw; Doug (and souse Kathy) Stevens, Albion; Ken (and spouse Chris) Stevens, New Port News, Va.; Byron "Bud" Stevens, Gilead, Maine; Rick (and spouse Annette) Stevens and Scott (and spouse Beth) Stevens, all of Huntington; five daughters: Kathy Luther, Carolyn (and spouse Pat) Smith and Marsha Roberts, all of Huntington; Connie (and spouse Brian) Nielson, Naples, Fla.; and Cheryl (and spouse Michael) Pogoreic, Fort Wayne; a sister, Nora Hill, Huntington; 42 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary L. Stevens, who died Feb. 2, 1988; a brother, George Hill; a sister, Nola Hill; and two stepbrothers, Garl and Warren Campbell.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington, with the Rev. Joseph Sumwalt officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
