Carpenter's Performance Leads Local Golf RoundupBATTLE GROUND — Triton junior Quentyn Carpenter had the lowest score, while the Warsaw boys golf team had the third-lowest team score at Saturday’s Lafayette Jefferson Invitational. Played on Battle Ground Golf Club’s par-72 course, Carpenter shot a 73, as 13th-ranked Hamilton Southeastern won with a 306. Seventh-ranked Warsaw and 19th-ranked Cathedral each shot a 318, with Cathedral winning on a fifth-player tiebreaker, while Triton was 12th with a 347. Playing without defending state champion Tyler Ostrom, the Warsaw Tigers were led by Jon Schram’s 75, followed by Tim Ahlersmeyer’s 78, Jonny Hollar’s 82, Jared Essig’s 83 and Bennett Hollar’s 88. Outside of Carpenter’s 73, Triton got an 85 from Ryan Rapp, a 91 out of Austin Kanarr and a 98 from Lucas Shafer and Chandler Slone. Both teams are off until Friday’s Warsaw Sectional at Stonehenge Golf Club. Warsaw’s junior varsity won the varsity tournament with a 314, while Plymouth and Tippecanoe Valley each shot a 321, rounding out the top three. Triton’s junior varsity also took part in the tournament, finishing 11th with a 403. Warsaw’s Evan Cultice and Ryan Cultice each shot a 77.
