Carole Jane La Rue, 78, Winona Lake, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Dec. 2, 2014, at Grace Village Assisted Living of Winona Lake.
She was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Ashland, Ohio, to Lawrence Reas and Hilda L. Long Roby. On Aug. 14, 1954, in Ashland, Ohio, she married Ronald Jay La Rue, who passed away Aug. 23, 2011.
She graduated in 1954 from Ashland High School. She was a resident of Kosciusko County for 46 years, where she was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, Winona Lake Literary Club and the Three Rivers Decorative Artists Association of Fort Wayne. She also loved to quilt with a local church group. She worked for a number of years in the production department for Ken Anderson Films, Warsaw. She worked on sets and costumes, as well as doing the negative cutting.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Sandra (and spouse Barry) Long, Leesburg; Susan (and spouse Joe) Schmitt, Syracuse; Melinda (and spouse Charles) Sheetz, Claypool; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Long; Kari (and spouse Kyle) Thompson; Ashley Sheetz; Jordan (and spouse Cierra) Schmitt; Joe, Danielle, Brandy and Bill Schmitt; six great-grandchildren: Rylee Thompson; McKenzie, Kylie, Landon and Mason Schmitt; and Amari Leffridge. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Kevin and Lindsay Long; two brothers; and her sister.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Bruce Barlow and Chaplain Bryan Benjamin officiating. Burial with graveside services is at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
