Carol Louise Sittler, 81, Terre Haute, and formerly of Evanston, Ill., passed away at 9:05 a.m. Nov. 7, 2015, at Harrison Crossing Health Campus, Terre Haute. She was born Dec. 18, 1933, in Warsaw, to Ross W. and Dawn Jones Sittler. She was a graduate of Warsaw High School, then she received her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her master’s degree from The Ohio State University. While at Purdue, she was a member of, and for one year the president of, Phi Mu Sorority. She was employed as a dorm director for four years at Texas Tech. She had lived most of her adult life in Evanston. She was a clinical psychologist and supervisor at Jewish Vocational Service in Chicago for 36 years, retiring in 1998. For several years she served on the board of directors for Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes, Evanston. She loved the game of bridge and was involved in several bridge groups in the Evanston area. She also traveled extensively with family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered by two nieces, Jo Phillips and Connie (and spouse Newman) Atkinson, both of Terre Haute; a nephew, David (and spouse Christy) Sittler, Fort Wayne; five great-nephews: Josh Sittler, Terre Haute; Joe Sittler, Fort Wayne; Rhett Rosella, Los Angeles, Calif.; Benjamin and Joey Atkinson, Terre Haute; two great-great-nephews, Jaxon Reese and Gage Sittler, Terre Haute; two great-great-nieces, Grace Sittler, Connecticut, and Adie Sittler, Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, J. Marilyn (and spouse Darrell) Phillips; a brother, Robert (and spouse Martha) Sittler; and a niece, Elaine Sittler Rosella. A committal service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Her funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Linda Craig officiating.
