AKRON — Carol Ann Whittenberger, 74, Akron, died at noon Sept. 22, 2018, at Manor Care at Summer Trace, Carmel.

She was born July 27, 1944, in Silver Lake, to Corliss and Eleanor Warren Rowland. She has lived in Akron for the past 18 years, previously living in Elizabethtown, Ky., for 10 years and in Mount Morris, Ill., for 25 years.

She graduated from Silver Lake with the Class of 1962.

She was married to Charles W. Whittenberger on Nov. 2, 1969, in Silver Lake.    

She worked several years at Walmart in Rochester and was a housewife and homemaker. She worked several part-time jobs, most recently as a cashier at Viking Foods and greeter at Earl-Love Funeral Home, both in Akron.

She attended Olive Branch Church in Roann. She was a supporter of many groups, including Girls Scouts, booster clubs, Tippecanoe Valley High School boys and girls sports, and her grandchildren’s sports.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana (spouse Paul) Wright, Carmel, and Candy (spouse Joey) Ballard, Glasgow, Ky.; four grandchildren: Travis, Addison, Nolan and Cody; and a sister, Annette Kline.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles W. Whittenberger, on Sept. 1, 2015.

Memorial visitation with friends and family will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron. A memorial service will follow, then burial will be at Akron IOOF Cemetery.       

Pastor Jeff Sumner of Olive Branch Church, Roann, will officiate.
