NAPPANEE – Carol A. Strang, 78, of Syracuse, and formerly of Nappanee, died at 4:15 p.m. Oct. 18, 2012, in her residence, after a short illness. She was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Milford, to Harry W. and Ruth Lucile Lingofelter Gillis. On May 29, 1953, in the Church of the Brethren, Nappanee, she married Robert Strang, who survives. She was a graduate of Nappanee High School and lived her lifetime in this area. She formerly worked as a receptionist for Dr. James Miller and also as a teacher’s assistant at South Side School. She had loved working with the children there. She loved her family and was a strong Christian who loved her Lord. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Nappanee. She had been involved with the Nappanee Civic Theater, participating in many productions. She was a very artistic woman and a beautiful vocalist who sang for others her entire life. Also surviving are two daughters, Patti (and spouse Rick) Huff and Betsy (and spouse Chris) Butler, all of Goshen; a son, Scott (and spouse Karen) Strang, Bristol; six grandchildren: Caleb and Shera Denney; Braxton and Brenna Butler; Allison Strang; and Brandy Ralston; four great-grandchildren; and a niece, Kimber Lee Manges (and spouse Mike) Baker, whom she helped raise. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Dennis, and a sister, Sherry May Gillis Manges. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Janet McFall-Brown officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
