Carol A. Smith, 70, Claypool, passed away at 6:35 p.m. May 18, 2014, at her residence. She was born April 29, 1944, in Kokomo, to Vernon and Margie Peterson Smith. On Aug. 28, 1974, she married Alan Clark, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Elkhart High School and Ball State Teacher’s College. She was a teacher in Muncie, Fort Wayne, Augsburg, Germany and Mentone. She retired in 2006 after 39 years of teaching. She enjoyed reading. She was dedicated to her kids and school. She loved living at Yellow Creek Lake, where she had been going since she was a young child. Surviving are two daughters, Shari (and spouse Chris) Power, Alexandria, and Joette (and spouse Derek) Barnett, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a brother, James (and spouse Kay) Smith, Brandenton, Fla. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sue Michael. A celebration of life will be held at later date.
