SYRACUSE – Carl J. Petno Jr., 83, of Syracuse, passed away on Dec. 31, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1935, in Uniontown, Pa., to Carl and Florence Berardi Petno Sr.
On March 31, 1989, he married Pamela Ellison, who survives. He retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel after 27 years. He then retired from the civilian sector with GTE in 1996.
Carl is survived by his wife, Pamela Petno of Syracuse; two sons, Stephen (Kristine) Petno of St. Charles, Ill., and Douglas (Lisa) Petno of New Canaan, Conn.; a daughter, Elizabeth Smith of Columbus, Ind.; one stepdaughter, Tracy Bolles of Longwood, Fla.; a stepson, Christopher (Melissa) Bolles of Fishers; a brother, Vince (Lee) Petno of Stowe, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Eastlund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery with military honors.
