Cardinal Services Clients Assemble Flags for Post 1126

Cardinal Services clients and staff spent Wednesday assembling flags and flag poles that will be displayed at Warsaw Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126.
There were eight Cardinal Services clients, and Jay Tate, Cardinal general manager, and Robert Andrews, Cardinal employee, who assembled the flags at Cardinal.
“The clients love to work and we have 103 clients with development disabilities that we supply work to,” Tate said. “Their productivity goes up because they are motivated and this is another opportunity for them to work in the community.”
Andrews said it is rewarding to work with the clients on assembling the flags.
“I hope they learn the importance of honoring our service men and women who fight for our freedom as well as other service members like firemen and police officers,” Andrews said.
There were 50 American flags that were assembled and purchased by funds donated to the legion post by the community.
Also purchased were six flags representing military branches, two Prisoners of War and Missing In Action flags, and two Indiana state flags.
The flags were purchased by the VFW from Patriot Trading Post, and the flag poles were purchased from Mid City Supply.
Rex Rife, post commander, requested funds from the community in May to purchase flags to be displayed at the post.
Rife said it is important to display the flags to honor those who served their country both past and present.
People can adopt the flags for $15. Dog tags also are available to have a name of a veteran or active duty service member engraved on the dog tag.
To adopt a flag, people can stop by the VFW, 1350 W. Center St., Mondays through Saturdays from 1 to 9 p.m. There are 30 flags that still need to be adopted.
The flags will be displayed July 14 at the VFW during the district commander’s meeting.
They will be displayed along with flags that were loaned to the post by Russ Bauer, Northeast Indiana ride captain for Indiana Patriot Guard Riders.
