Cardinal Center CEO Jane Greene spent Friday morning reading to children in the Warsaw Head Start class.
It was "Duck Day" in the classroom, and Greene contributed by reading Eric Carle's "10 Little Rubber Ducks."Outfitted in bright yellow baseball caps with orange duckbills and tail feathers, the children enjoyed story time followed by milk and cookies. Quacky, the Cardinal Center's duck race mascot, also appeared.
"Duck Day" kicks off the Third Annual Center Lake Duck Race, which will be at noon June 28 at Center Lake. Sales started Friday and will run through the morning of the race.
Chances are $5 per duck, or six ducks for $25, and the person with the winning duck number will win $5,000.
Additional prizes include four tickets to the Notre Dame/Air Force football game this fall, a Ramada Wagon Wheel Theatre package, and a gas grill from Lowe's.
Tickets are on sale now by stopping by the Cardinal Center at 504 North Bay Drive, or by calling 574-371-1382.
