I was amused by Lonnie Slone's article in the "Letters to the Editor" relating to the "show ID" requirements in the USA.
I can proudly say that this is the way of life for those of us in Kosciusko County in the many instances illustrated aptly by Mr. Slone. This part of the USA seems safe no matter what the folks in Washington, DC, decide?
I'm a 62-year-old non-drinker of alcohol and a USA citizen. I was preparing to clean my guitars one day and stopped at Super Walmart to buy "mineral spirits" to remove the old wax. "Mineral spirits" as many of you know can be used to remove wax build-up from fine funiture, too.
I was "carded" and had to "show my ID" before I could complete my purchase of "mineral spirits" as listed on the receipt. Apparently, "spirits" to the young cashier meant "booze" and required the "showing of an ID" from even an older person like myself. Perhaps, I should have thanked her for thinking this older guy looked "young enough" to "card" and be "legal" purchaser of said spirits.
I was glad that I had an ID to show, so I could quickly get back to my cleaning project.
Lonnie, thanks for reminding us that we should be required to use our ID often (including "dumb" things) as we are USA citizens and entitled.
