Editor, Times-Union: As most people already know, the Pierceton Days Car Show was much smaller this year than in previous years. Last year, we had around 130 cars registered and this year we had 40. There was a car show in Warsaw at the same time as our car show this year. It's been rumored that that same car show is expected to be every first Friday in August, which really interferes with the Pierceton Days car show. I recognize that the Warsaw car show proceeds go toward Baker Youth Club and I appreciate that club and what they do for Kosciusko County very much. I think it's wonderful that the proceeds go to them and I think they should continue doing that! My concern is the timing. Pierceton Days Car Show has been on the first weekend in August for many years now and it's difficult to change that weekend because of vendors keeping those dates open to come to our festival every year. Warsaw hosts a First Friday event every month of the year – that makes 11 other months that this particular car show could take place in. Without the car show, the Pierceton Days Festival may not survive years to come. Stephanie Campbell Pierceton, via email
