A Pierceton man is in critical condition in a Fort Wayne hospital after wrapping his car around a tree this morning on Rozella Road, near Warsaw.
Jason M. Geiger, 23, of East Wooster Road, was trapped inside the car when emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the 1:53 a.m. accident at 1179 Rozella Road. Geiger was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital before being airlifted to Parkview Memorial Hospital. He suffered severe head and torso injuries and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department press release.
Police said Geiger was traveling eastbound on Rozella Road at an extremely high rate of speed when he swerved suddenly for an unknown reason. The car crossed the center line, went off the road and clipped one tree before spinning sideways into a large tree, wrapping the vehicle from end to end.
Assisting at the scene were Multi-Township Emergency Medical Service and Warsaw fire and police departments.
The accident remains under investigation.
