Car Hits 3 Pedestrians, 1 Dies

CROMWELL -ÊOne man is dead and two women are hospitalized after being hit by a car Friday night in Cromwell.

Travis Williams, 24, Ruby Rookstool, 18, and Heather Scrivens, 22, were walking on Cromwell Road in Noble County around 9 p.m. Friday when they reportedly were hit by a car driven by Candy J. Hill, 30, of 3606 N. CR 1025W, Cromwell.

All three pedestrians were transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Williams and Rookstool were airlifted to the hospital by the Samaritan Air Ambulance, while Scrivens was transported to Fort Wayne by the Noble County EMS.

Williams, 24, of 8123 E. CR 250S, Pierceton, suffered head injuries. He was removed from life support and died Sunday afternoon.

Ruby Rookstool, 18, of 11538 N. Candy Cane Lane, Cromwell, suffered multiple injuries and was listed in serious condition this morning.

Heather Scrivens, 22, of 8708 E. Walnut Drive, Syracuse, suffered multiple fractures and was listed in fair condition at Parkview Hospital.

Hill was booked into the Noble County Jail Friday and preliminarily charged with driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.

According to the Noble County Sheriff's Office, more charges against Hill are pending. She could be charged with driving while intoxicated causing death, a Class C felony.

The accident remains under investigation by the Noble County Sheriff's Department.
