Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
The final list of candidates for several county offices, township trustees and advisory boards, and two seats on the Syracuse town council has been state certified, according to Ann Torpy of the Kosciusko County Clerk's Office.
Two new names have been added to the list since the May primary: Steven Sponseller of Warsaw, a Republican, has been added to the Harrison Township Advisory Board race, replacing Richard Jordan, who died in February.
Incumbent Franklin Township Trustee Trillia Gearhart, a Democrat, is being challenged by Republican Beth Ann McBrier, who filed after the primary.
The general election is Nov. 7.
Incumbents running unchallenged are Rex Reed, circuit court judge; Steven Hearn, prosecuting attorney; Laurie Renier for county assessor; and county council members Charlene Knispel, Harold Jones, Brad Tandy and John Kinsey.
Since the auditor's office is a "holdover" post, Marsha McSherry won't be sworn in until 2008.
Deb Wulliman will serve her first term in office beginning in January, although she has been a deputy recorder since 1998.
Bob Conley will serve his first term as commissioner in 2007.
The county sheriff's race is still a contest with primary Republican party winner Rockey Goshert of Warsaw facing Democrat Jim Bumbaugh of Pierceton.
Political parties had until June 30 to fill a vacancy on the general election ballot because of a primary election ballot vacancy.
