ACS at Work is a corporate wellness program available in Kosciusko County. Working with the American Cancer Society, a company can enhance employee health, morale and well-being and increase visibility in the local community. In turn, the support and active participation of the company and its employees can help in the ACS mission to eliminate cancer.
Many of the services offered by ACS at Work are in the areas of cancer prevention and early detection messages, cancer information, patient services and volunteerism, most of which are free. Typically the Cancer Society works with organizations that:
• Wish to provide an opportunity for their employees to make a difference in the fight against cancer;
• Want to generate a positive perception of their company as a good corporate citizen, in the eyes of their employees and the local community; and
• Realize that comprehensive health and wellness initiatives will improve productivity and lower health care costs.
The American Cancer Society recently recognized two partners in Kosciusko County - Kosciusko Community Hospital and DePuy Orthopaedics.
Kosciusko Community Hospital is recognized for its corporate sponsorships, volunteers, Relay For Life, smoke-free environment and "Access to Cancer Information," a free monthly newsletter. This award was presented to the hospital staff and the Center For Hope for their support and dedication.
DePuy Orthopaedics and Earl Hanlin, vice-president of human resources, are recognized for being the top corporate sponsor in Kosciusko County, participating in the Relay For Life, volunteering, maintaining a smoke-free work environment, providing employees with the "Access to Cancer Information" newsletter and investing in the American Cancer Society to help find a cure.
Both businesses will be printed in the annual report for the Great Lakes Division and recognized by plaques in their offices.
